The French Country House is nestled amongst the hills of Pahoia in the heart of the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Our luxury accommodation is 20 minutes’ drive from central Tauranga and just over 2 hours from Auckland Airport. See our map at the bottom of this page.
Located on the east coast of the North Island, the Bay of Plenty region is known for its warm sunny climate, endless sandy beaches, lush forest, spectacular seafood, citrus orchards and kiwifruit vines and fiery sunsets over the Kaimai ranges.
Our luxury lodge is ideally located with many iconic New Zealand attractions within reach - from the Coromandel, famous for its coastal scenery and rich history, to the thermal wonderland of Rotorua, Lake Taupo and the dramatic Huka Falls, or the home of the Hobbit movie set in Matamata.
Closer to home are the cafes and shops of Tauranga City and Mt Maunganui, an extinct volcanic cone that gives the neighbouring beach and town its name. The Mount dominates the surrounding landscape and is a hugely popular place to walk with absolutely stunning views from the summit, 360 degrees.
The Bay of Plenty region is particularly popular for the accessibility and range of beach and water based activities, glorious walks, arts and crafts, and artisan food producers - all easily reached from the French Country House.
